Founded in 1964, D.A.V. KRONOS is the oldest and the most active student athletics association in the Netherlands. Kronos is the athletics association where athletics can be practiced at every level combined with a lot of fun! At the UT we have good training facilities: a beautiful new athletics track (since 2015) where practicing (almost) all athletics events is possible. There is a nice strength room in the sports center and directly behind the UT are beautiful forests for endurance and cross training.
Kronos is suitable for students with an athletic background as well as for students who have never been introduced to athletics before. You can get acquainted with all branches of athletics with us, there is sure to be something you like!
Members of Kronos often also participate in competitions, for example regional road, cross and track competitions. In the summer there are three competition matches where a team competes on all athletics events against other athletics associations. In addition, members of course also participate in the six annual athletics student championships and events such as the Batavierenrace. Every now and then Apeldoorn is visited for the indoor matches. Every year Kronos organizes a road race (the Campus Run) and a track meeting (the Johan Knaap Games). You could also see the Fanny Blankers Koen Games as a Kronos competition, as almost the entire association is involved in that organization.
Athletics is fun, but so is relaxation. After the training sessions, the whole group always drinks something in the sports canteen. The activities committee organizes activities varying from a Santa Claus drink to pool. Every month there is a laphap (eating together after training) and a drink. There is also an association weekend every year where, in addition to sportsmanship, fun is paramount. Furthermore, Kronauts regularly go on holiday together for mountain biking, skiing or sailing.
We have about 100 members, who are divided into recreational members, competition members and donors. As a recreational member you can participate in all training sessions. As a competition member you can, in addition to the necessary training sessions, also participate in all Athletics Union competitions, such as competitions against other athletics associations, regional and national championships.
There are specific training courses for: - medium and long distance runners - sprinters - event specialists (hurdling, long jump, triple jump, high and pole vault, shot put and javelin and discus)
You can always come and train without obligation! The training times are here
